The most useful skill I have learnt and used in the last 3 years is cold emailing. While it seems daunting, writing down a simple mail with a direct call to action has helped me more than anything else. Once you get the basics right, it is a matter of sending successively better emails to get help – be it a job, a mentor, or a new friend.
Many of us love a welfare state in college, until we receive our first real pay check, that is. This piece looks at leaked Internal Revenue Service documents to examine whether the Uber-rich like Buffet, Bezos, and Zuckerberg pay any real taxes at all.
Tangentially, this illustration illuminates the scale of wealth of the top few. The orders of magnitude between the top 0.1% and the 1% is staggering, to say the least.
